Shiv was a fantastic tour guide, very friendly, and was very knowledgeable about Delhi. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone who wants to see the sights in Delhi, without the stress of navigating the streets alone.
Itinerary
Day 1: Delhi to Kolkata – Transfer to Sundarbans
Take a morning flight from Delhi to Kolkata. Upon arrival at Kolkata Airport, you will be welcomed by our local representative. Begin your drive towards Gothkhali Jetty, passing through the scenic countryside, small villages, and lush green fields of rural Bengal (approx. 3 hours by road).
At Gothkhali, board a motorboat to the Sundarbans, the world’s largest mangrove forest (approx. 1.5 hours by water). As you cruise through narrow creeks and wide rivers, enjoy the peaceful views of fishing boats, traditional villages, and birds flying overhead.
Arrive at your eco-resort or jungle lodge, check in, and have a hot lunch. In the evening, enjoy a short introductory boat ride to explore nearby waterways. Later, relax with a local folk dance or Baul music performance at the resort before dinner.
Overnight stay in Sundarbans.
Day 2: Full-Day Sundarbans Jungle Safari
Start the day early with breakfast at the resort, then head out for a full-day guided boat safari in the Sundarbans Tiger Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your safari will take you through the winding rivers, narrow creeks, and dense mangrove forest.
You will visit important watchtowers like Sajnekhali, Sudhanyakhali, and Dobanki, each offering excellent chances to spot Royal Bengal Tigers, saltwater crocodiles, spotted deer, monitor lizards, wild boars, fishing cats, and mudskippers. Bird watchers can enjoy spotting kingfishers, herons, eagles, storks, and migratory birds depending on the season.
The boat is equipped with safety gear and a guide/naturalist who will explain the unique ecosystem, flora, and fauna of the Sundarbans. Enjoy a packed lunch on board, surrounded by the peaceful wilderness. Return to the resort in the evening for tea and snacks. Optional: Watch a documentary on Sundarbans wildlife or join an interactive session with local experts. Dinner will be served at the resort. Overnight stay in Sundarbans.
Day 3: Sundarbans to Kolkata – Fly back to Delhi
After breakfast, check out from the resort. Take the return boat ride to Gothkhali Jetty, and then drive back to Kolkata Airport (approx. 3 hours by road). Board your evening flight back to Delhi, carrying unforgettable memories of your time in the mystical Sundarbans.
